HEALTH IS WEALTH

HEALTHCARE- "BEST PLACE TO INVEST IS YOUR OWN BODY"

I Would love to start with the valuable words of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi who said about health that,

"It is health that is real wealth and not piece of gold and silve"

Health in ancient India was defined as physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing of an individual. The system of medicine was not about illness and standalone treatment, it combined many concept-diet,climate, beliefs, supernatural, empirical, and culture.

"Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve santu Nirmayah"- It means May all become happy, may all be healthy.      -UPANISHADS

The emphasis was on natural and preventive approach to healing aimed at treating the illness from the root cause. The most important practitioners in this field include SUSRUTA, CHARVAKA and VAGBHATA. Susruta is also considered as the 'father of Indian surgery'.

The most important contribution of India is Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda. Indian medical practices gradually dispersed all over Asia including southeast, Indonesia, TIbet and Japan.

Health in modern times has been often defined in a negative connotation i.e. absence of illness, which is restrictive and narrow as Amartya Sen has argued that,

" Health is a social good. A person should be termed healthy, if he is able to actively participate in the society".

Health can not be seen in isolation but in wider perspective of human life, as a part of human life, as an instrument for fruitful human life. Being healthy is a process which starts right from morning, the way we breath, the way and what we eat, and all the way to the modalities of our sleep.

Our vedic text also dwell on the concept of health in totality.

[" Arogyam parmam bhagyam, swasthyam sarvarthasadhaanam"-

which mean "Good health is the greatest blessing, health is means of everything"  ]

Every year on 21st June we celebrate as "Yoga Day" , one of the greatest contribution of India to healthcare system, especially in emerging lifestyle diseases like dipression, diabetic etc. India is declared as the Diabetic Capital of the World by IDF as highest number of Type-2 diabetic patients are here.

"Good health and good sense are two of life's greatest blessing. If wealth is lost, nothing is lost; If health is lost, something is lost".

Cancer is one of the most common and lethal illnesses in India today. According to data from the International Society of Nephrology’s Kidney Disease Data Center Study, chronic kidney disease (CKD) across different regions of India reported a prevalence of 17 percent, with 17 in every 100 individuals in the country suffering from some kind of kidney ailment.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) data published in 2017, liver disease deaths in India reached over 2.5 lakhs accounting for over 2 percent of total deaths.India today ranks no. 4 in total number of deaths caused by lung diseases in the world and accounts for 10 percent of total deaths in India.

In 2017, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), an incurable and progressive lung condition that can destroy the air sacs responsible for extracting oxygen and dispelling carbon dioxide from the body, figured as the second biggest killer in India after heart diseases.  It is matter of concern for our country as in the opinion of Winston s. Churchill, " Healthy citizens are the greatest asset any country can have".

If we talk about why health is important, then can see it with many dimensions-

Health as a social good which enable the society to become more egalitarian, tolerant, sustainable, sensitive and moral based society. It helps in better absorption of education, skills and better relationship with natural resources.

Health as political good enable the political  discourse of society to become more democratic, more accountable and more decentralised.

Health as a economic good enable economic growth and prosperity as lower spending of health problem leads to lesser burden on family.

Health as a ecological good enable in sustainable development, sustainable consumption and environment friendly policy making. Sterlite protest in Tamil Nadu and protests of Delhi against growing pollution.

Health as a ethical good, Universal Decleration of Human Rights,  Sustainable Development Goal #3-Good Health & Wellbeing, International Covenant on Economic, social and cultural Rights etc have recognised health as a basic human right. Also there has been increasing consensus in India to declare right to health as a part of fundamental right under part III of Indian Constitution.

The recent CORONA pandemic also shed light on the inadequate healthcare system of our country. Because of this adverse healthcare system number of fatalities was very high during the peak time of the COVID -19 disease.Corona Pandemic also attract our focus on the internal immune system and the healthy and fit body which was able to fight this life threatening disease. Strong and healthy person who fight both with their body as well as with their mind become hero after defeating Corona.

The focus on healthy mind and body force me to memorise the words of Lord Budha who said that,

" To keep the body in good health is a duty, Otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear"

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

"Man can never be a women's equal in the sprit of selfless service with which nature has endowed her"

 -Mahatma Gandhi

India belongs to the land where women are revered as goddess. They are given as sacred status whereas on the other hand, they are debarred entry to temples (SABRIMALA).

In our society women are seen as home-makers, caretakers even in health front the job of nurse is given mostly to women, but if talk about women's health or nutrition they are most neglected ones.

In the education front over the year girls have more passing percentage in CBSE exam, but still discrimination seen in expenditure on girl's education over a boy in a family.

When we talk about womens' education the statement given by Brigham Young come in mind, " You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a women; you educate a generation".

Lets highlight the success of womens which may be forgotten by a normal orthodox people, a all women crew successfully circumnavigated the globe on India-built sail boat INSV Tarini. Agni-IV missile was successfully tested but very few people know that the Tessy Thomas, an Indian women scientist was the Project Director.

The highest grossing Indian film ever, the fifth highest grossing non-english film ever is not a romantic or male-protagonist but DANGAL, a story of Gita Phogat and Babita Kumari who go on to become India's first world-class female wrestlers. The story Dangal force me to think about the statement of Eleanor Roosevelt, " A women is like a tea bag; you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water".

According to United Nations women empowerment has five components,i.e. sense of self-worth; right to have and to determine choice; right to access opportunities and resources; power to control their own life inside and outside the home; ability to influence the direction of social change.

As Kofi Annan said, "No better tool of empowerment than women themselves". The status of women empowerment over the ages tells us that The Rig Veda says," The wife and husband, being the equal halves of one substance, are equal in every respect; therefore both should join and take equal parts in all works, religious and secular."  Also, the Upanishads clearly declare that we individual soul neither male or female".

The status of women of Vedic era began to decline with time with emergence of Later vedic age. Gender equality is started is creeping into the society, led to series of social evils against women-child marriage, sati, jauhar etc. Despite these, there were series of women achivers-Lopamudra, Maitreyi, Gargi, Ahilya Bai Holkar etc.

The Indian renaissance began during the time of British Rule, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra VIdyasagar and western education contributed to passed series of legislation for the betterment of women, Abolish of Sati, increasing the age for marriage, widow remarriage etc.

The next phase in women empowerment came with emergence of Mahatma Gandhi, as women were best placed to participate in the non-violent struggle for India's independence. Women like Sarojini Naidu, Aruna Asaf Ali, Kalpana Dutt,Pritilata Waddedar,Sucheta Kriplani, Usha Mehta etc became an integral part of India's independence movement.

If we talk about field of achievements and prices, Mother Teresa become the first Indian woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, Indira Gandhi 1st women PM of India,Pratibha Patil 1st women President of India, Kiran Bedi 1st IPS Officer, Kalpna Chawla, Justice Fatimah 1st female judge appointed to supreme court,Harita Kor Deol 1st women pilot to fly solo in Indian Air force,Anna Rajam Malhotra became the first woman IAS officer of India,Priyan Jhingan became the first Indian woman to join the Indian Army in 1993.

Even in recent year India have seen women in all field from Jet pilot to Civil servants the number of women contribution enhanced lets memorise few name, Bhawana Kanth became the first woman pilot of the Indian Air Force to take part in R-Day parade, Kiran Deoli Uniyal is the first Indian woman to have achieved 12 World Records in Martial Arts in speed elbow strikes and kicks, Sania Mirza, Sania Nehwal, Marry Kom, Bachendri Pal  and many more names added very frequently as its tough now to highlight womens in any selected field because they are all over the world shining like starts on the sky which is impossible to count.

But the importance of those women who were first in their field will never diminished as they become the inspiration for the others just because of them the young girls are now confident to enter in any field without any fear or hesitation.

Let us finish it with the golden words of the B.R.Ambetkar, as the words may finish but the achivement and stories of womens will not end,

He said, " I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved".

IMORTANCE OF TIME

"  ALL MOMENTS ARE PRICELESS AS U CAN NEVER GET IT BACK "

The time returns you whatever it recived by you. Todays in this digital world specially from the time when the JIO launched  youth are busy with their smartphones,  few may utilising it in proper way but most of them busy in either entertainment or in gaming site.

Even you can see the race to be the number one on any particular game just to show this number one status on Meta/facebook. They are not aware of fact that they all are slowly poisoned with this addiction so that no one take interest in real world and be happy in this virtual where they can enjoy and feel like there is nothing outside.

In old days when there were no mobile phones people were really attached with each other. The locality live there life as they were a single family. As the time goes first the wired phone come, no doubt is brings people closer but the reality is that this change slowly make their heart farther.

If we compare old days when there was only one telivision on any corner shop and cricket match enjoyed by many members of the locality like a family. Then telivision come to everyones' home the family member enjoy it in a room and today in this digital world when every member of family have their own mobile phone and enjoy separately.

The point is that this make everyone free on their own wish as they have full authority on their mobile and no one can interfere in how much time they spend on it. Now only the inner voice of person can stop him or her from wasting time or from misusing this powerful invention that is mobile phone which can change your world if you use it smartly also can destroy you if use randomly.

There are many informative websites available on the internet the choice depends on you. Everyone wants entertainment but one, specially youth should understand that this can gives you short term happiness after taking your valuable priceless time which you can never get back rather you spend money as water.

One most dangerous thing is that after and regular using mobile randomly you will not get anything in return but the worst addiction as a disease and also lost your vision power slowly.

One can not say that mobile or internet is only harmful for us but if we use it smartly then nothing is as usefull as internet because this is the world of knowledge. You can take the information of whole world on one click & can access the top educator free of cost without going anywhere.

This addiction also used by political parties to separate a huge number of youth out from the real world problem as they are busy is killing the virtual villan in their game or busy in achieving the topmost position is the game or earning a huge sum of virtual money on gaming app which they can never be cashed. Even this addiction changed the person as much as they do not strongly feel on real murder or on mob lynching, they just  forward the message in social media and again become busy in their virtual world.

This change of thinking in public pushing them towards the hell which is not anywhere else in the high in sky but in this world as they are unintentionally changing our own surrounding our own family our own world in the hell slowly.

Its the choice of todays' youth to either shine their future enhance their knowledge and  be an intellectual one who can face the world with a smart vision or to be addict to play games and enjoy movies and serials just like "NAUTANKI" seen by village people who dont have anything else to do who dont have any special big dream in their life.

"ITS NOT ENOUGH TO BE BUSY..

THE QUESTION IS: WHAT ARE WE BUSY ABOUT?"

OUR CONTRIBUTION IN GLOBAL WARMING

A BURNING QUESTION OF OUR EXISTENCE.....

Today we all are busy in our current problems which we face in our daily life visibly but the disaster which come and the change in the mansoon pattern or the temperature increased normally ignore by us.

Those countries which are able to contribute in combating the climate change are busy in more development and future technology and forgot that its because of them the developing countries facing the unpredicted disaster and climate change more badly.

Recently world largest iceberg A-76 calved from Ronne Ice shelf of Antarctica & now floating in Weddell Sea. The global sea level are increasing drastically. Indonesia's capital city Jakarta is facing challenge of rising sea level and become the world fastest sinking city. Along with it many coastal cities are facing the challenge of climate change in recent years.

If we talk about Net Zero Emission India recently announced its target to achive it in 2070 in COP 26 in Glasgow, Scotland. By 2030 India will increase non fossil capacity to 500GW, will fullfill 50% of its energy requirement with renewable energy, reduce its economic carbon intensity to less than 45% and will reduce 1 billion ton of total projected carbon emission between 2021 and 2030.

Despite being capable of handling more efficiently US, Britain and European Union set its target of Net Zero Emission to 2050 and China along with Saudi Arab set it by 2060. Net Zero Emission is that when the countries Green House Gass emission is equivalent to the absorbent by various means like Afforestation and creation of Carbon sink ete.

Through UNFCCC, Kyoto protocol and Paris Agreement call for financial assistance to vulnerable nations accordance with the principle of "Comman but differentiated responsibility and respective capabilities.

Through the Cancun Agreement in 2010 developed countries committed to goal of mobilising jointly USD100 per year by 2020 to address need of developing countries. Accordingly the Green Climate Fund was established.

In 2015, under the Paris Agreement developed countries committed this goal and agreed that prior to 2025 a new collective qualified gaol from a floor of USD 100 per year shall be set.

Till now neither the climate assistance nor the PARIS RULEBOOK come into existence which was concrete to finalise in COP 24 in Poland, 2018. Question is that is developed nations serious in mitigating the climate change or just trying to delayed it till the disaster completely finish our earth.

If we talk about national level India is serious in this field and working with enthusiasm in renewable energy setup. India (CSIR, Ministry of science and Technology) has developed the world largest solar tree in West Bengal. India is home of 2nd largest solar park name Bhadla Solar Park (2.7GW) in Rajasthan after the only largest of the world China's Golmud Desert Solar park (2.8GW).

Now in the last lets talk on individual level and think how to contribute to save our only home the Earth. Mostly people are busy in their life and when they come home enjoy air condition and forgot the harsh temperature outside their home. They dont have time to even think about those who live in village without AC or even on footpath due to poor condition of our country.

If we all decide to PLANT atleast two tree just outside their house or in home who have extra free land and take care of those trees as it will give oxygen to us and to our future generation then the problem of climate change can be face easily.

Kindly think about yourself and your future otherwise this development will one day destroy not only your economy but also your existence from the EARTH. To secure your future please plant a tree and take care of it as your own child.

PLANT A TREE & GET OXYGEN FOR FREE.

ONLINE EDUCATION FOR JUVENILES

As we all know after CORONA PANDEMIC everything shutdown along with schools even now after new normal the classes of senior students have been started but junior students still facing the difficulty of online learning.

In my opinion students after 8th standard may become able to handle online learning as they have gained much interest in their subjects in junior classes, but I am not in favour of giving mobile to students under graduate without strict watch of parents as they may distract and misused it.

Specially the students under junior high school required the study environments and strict guidelines of teachers as well as parents which become impossible in online teaching platform.

Its a big matter of concern that if the students not be able to clear their basic concept of  study then how will they face the higher study efficiently. Students are the future of our country or can say foundation of economic and social development. If we will not take care of our basic building block then must see negative result of it in near future and we will not be able to cope up with this problem at any cost as the time will not come back.

Its consequence may be it decline the standard of our study system as we have already seen that many education boards have change their syllabus to make it easy for students. But whenever the current students come to competition level they may face great difficulty of huge syllabus and tough competition or may be in future when the all come to the same level the competition level also come down.

This is a setback in the future of our country so Government must take this matter seriously and open the junior school first or else our rising stars will diminished with time. As in INDIA maximam parents are not able to teach their children due to their illiteracy and poor home condition and even many of them not have as much money to give them mobile or computer for study. Government school is the only hope for them to atleast make their future generation to face the world with confidence.

If CORONA can spread with junior students then it will also spread with same speed with other one. If government have opened all the activity of public, then school should be open as well.
